Lumbar Support: Is it a Fad or the Best
Solution for Backaches?

Lumbar support is a very popular element of
today's chairs. But few are asking this question:
But is it doing more good than harm?
In your lower back, there is a gentle curve.
Sitting puts strain on your lower back by smoothing out this curve. A lumbar
support helps to keep the curve.
But it gets a bit tricky:
- Too much support bends your spine backwards
- Too little support does nothing
- Placed incorrectly it can cause pain
It's not enough to have lumbar support, it
needs to be in the right place. It needs to be positioned where it fits the
curve of your lower back, not higher or lower.
Don't forget, some people don't need lots of
it. If you feel uneasy or want to move around, it could be too much.
It's not about changing posture, but keeping
it natural.
